2018-2019 SOURCE CONSULTANTS
2018-2019 SOURCE CONSULTANTS
In 2005, a small group of students created SOURCE as a way to add value to nonprofit organizations and grow professionally by collaborating to solve real challenges faced by the community. Through the 2005 Kravis Leadership Institute Business Plan Competition, they solidified their vision and principles for the student organization they wanted to create. Ultimately, this organization was intended to serve as a bridge between Claremont McKenna College and the Claremont community. With the initial financial support from the City of Claremont and the Kravis Leadership Institute at CMC, the number of SOURCE teams grew over the next several years. Thanks to these organizations, as well as other generous organizations and individuals, SOURCE has expanded to its current model of seven client teams each year.
During that transitional time, SOURCE began rotating through different organizations, enabling a wider reach into the community and diversifying experiences for the student consultants. In 2014, the managers created the Associate Consultant Program for new hires to enhance the student experience in SOURCE through training, mentorship, and culture. SOURCE has welcomed more sponsors, consultants, and nonprofit organizations to the team over the last few years in an effort to diversify our perspectives, our work, and our impact. We have expanded our community impact by partnering with a range of nonprofits and strengthened our student development by supporting internal initiatives. SOURCE grows every year as new consultants solve new problems alongside new nonprofit partners, all while embodying the values of innovation, collaboration, integrity, professionalism, and action that have been the foundations of our organization since the beginning.
We prioritize projects, new or existing, that provide the most meaningful impact on the local community and our students’ development.
Through our emphasis on practical leadership, SOURCE consultants develop an effective and meaningful approach to leadership roles.
We continuously reflect on how SOURCE can be improved to better uphold our mission and achieve our vision. We strive to take innovative approaches and find creative solutions for our clients, while bolstering our student consultants’ personal development.
SOURCE aims to foster a more involved relationship between CMC and the local community. We connect community members, nonprofit leaders, professors, alumni, and students to increase community awareness and maximize SOURCE’s impact.
Accountability, professionalism, and clear communication are essential to our work as consultants. We are committed to being accountable to our clients, our sponsors, and each other by providing the highest quality of deliverables possible.
