Maximizing Giving Tuesday
You have definitely heard of Black Friday, but has your organization embraced Giving Tuesday? In recent years, various organizations have capitalized on the holiday buzz surrounding Thanksgiving weekend, expanding Black Friday to Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday (online retail discounts). This year, the efforts have expanded to include Giving Tuesday (December 2) that is a day for giving back to your community.
How can you maximize the celebration of giving and community this Giving Tuesday?
Here are 3 ways to start now:
1. Start talking about Giving Tuesday NOW. In Claremont, it may not be as well known so get the word out via social media, email, newsletters, whichever is the most effective for your organization. For this, focus on your impact on the community and the importance of their donation. This is a day that celebrates giving, so make sure you celebrate the individuals that join you.
2. Consider hosting an event. Even a small event can help remind the community of the importance of giving to help those with less. A film screening, facility tour, or other event that shows off your social impact can be incredibly valuable to gaining new supporters on Giving Tuesday.
3. Set up an Amazon Smile account and publicize it through your donors. For each purchase they make (likely on Cyber Monday), your organization gets 0.5%. Although it may not seem like much, last year Amazon’s sales increased 43% on Cyber Monday, meaning your organization could bring in a considerable amount. Last year, Amazon saw increased spending across November, so make sure to set up your account soon!
